USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 4k 60 Hz? The Answer Is BossDOCK Pro

If you’re looking for a way to connect USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 4k 60 Hz on all your devices, you’ve probably found some challenges with interoperability. Some devices have docks that only work for select devices, which hinders flexibility when you need it. It can be more than a little annoying to have to find the right cable for the right device each time you’re using them.

This is where Juiced Systems’ BossDOCK Pro comes in. Juiced Systems have several peripherals, most of which are interoperable among devices. Like all their devices, the BossDOCK Pro is reliable, and competitively priced – it retails at around $200 in most online stores, which is cheaper than most docks you’ll find in the market now.

The USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 4k 60 Hz dock from BossDOCK Pro supports both USB-C and USB 3.0 interfaces, which means you can use it on any laptop (and even desktop) that was made in the last few years. How, you ask? It has interchangeable cables that connect the dock to the computer. Other interesting features include:

  • Compatibility with the USB Type-A and Type-C desktop and laptop computer ports
  • Supports resolutions of up to 5K (5210 by 2880 at 60 Hz) when simultaneously using dual DisplayPorts
  • Dual 4K HDMI, 4K HDMI + 4K Display Port, and Dual 4K Display Port output
  • Compatible with 5.1 channel surround sound
  • Includes screen mirroring and extend screen modes
  • Inbuilt USB 3.0 GPU and Plug and Play Display
  • Superspeed USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 4k 60 Hz – transfer speeds in excess of 5 Gbps
  • Backwards compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.0
  • Inbuilt 10/100/1000 Bate T Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port to give uninterrupted network performance

The BossDOCK Pro is also compatible with all versions of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows suites, including Windows Vista and Windows XP (you will have to download and install the software for those, however). It is also compatible with macOS X (Snow Leopard, Lion, Sierra, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite and El Capitan).

On the front side of the BossDOCK Pro, you will see four USB 3.0 ports and the audio in and audio out jacks. On the back, there are more USB 3.0 ports and a 1GB Ethernet port, two Display ports, and two HDMI ports. You will also find the USB-C port inwards, which you would connect your computer to, the DC in (power port), and the On/Off switch. You can power down when not in use to avoid draining power.

This dock is slightly longer than other docks – it measures 8.5 by 3.5 by 1 inch – but it weighs less, and doesn’t need to use a heavy power brick, unlike the others. It makes the BossDOCK Pro USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 4k 60 Hz more portable, should you want to carry it around with you.

Switching from your laptop or desktop to a Surface or iPad is as easy as switching out the cable, and you’re ready to do. The BossDOCK Pro comes with both cables (USB-C to USB 3.0 and USB-C to USB-C), as well as the driver CD and software – the computers should detect the devices and automatically install its drivers, though.

There isn’t much more to say about the suitability of BossDOCK Pro for USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 4k 60 Hz. Of course, if you’re using older or slower devices, you won’t enjoy the full 5 Gbps transfer rates that this dock is capable of. You’ll enjoy the responsive video experience, amazing graphics and clear sound using the BossDOCK Pro.

If you don’t enjoy moving the dock back and forth between work and home (and who does, anyway?), getting two separate docks will be well worth the initial cost.
